Here we have Nick Gerber’s favorites of 2018! We are so lucky to have Nick as a part of the Gerber & Scarpelli team, with such an incredible eye for candid moments and a passion for creativity. 2019 is a big year for Nick as he welcomes another member to his family in March, and Gerber & Scarpelli welcomes another budding photographer to their crew. We can’t wait for all that is to come!
Anna + Jacob were married at St Patricks Church followed by a drive around the city to capture the beautiful couple and their wedding party! Their reception was nothing short of gorgeous located in the historical Harold Washington Library.
Co-owner of Gerber & Scarpelli, Kurt Gerber, shares with us some of his favorite moments from 2018. What a wonderful year it was! Looking forward to another year of capturing cityscape proposals, wedding day popsicles, and moments of pure unedited joy.
Without further ado, Belen Aquino’s Best of 2018! When Belen isn’t taking photographs you can find her spending time with her family, cooking up incredible recipes for her friends, and traveling around the world! Belen has been a part of the G+S team for over seventeen years, and we couldn’t feel luckier to have her!
Our final collaboration of 2018 with Clover Events and friends! Here is all of your sparkly New Years Eve dreams come true complete with a fabulous wall of balloons! We had so much fun doing a monthly tablescape with Clover Events and we can’t wait to show you what we have up our sleeve for 2019!
A final 2018 “thank you” to the fabulous vendors who contributed to this shoot..

Mary + Nick are the kind of couple that radiate joy and love! We couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces all day. The celebration started at Hotel Arista in Naperville where both the groom and bride got ready. We spent the rest of the day at Noahs Event Venue where we watched Mary + Nick experience so many firsts as newlyweds. What an incredible day!

Winter engagement sessions can be so magical and full of joy, especially during the holiday season when Chicago is experiencing those first few snow days. Here are a few of our suggestions to make your winter engagement a smashing success!
Wait for snow
There is nothing quite like fresh snowfall! It is so much fun to get silly with your partner-in-crime and it also makes for such dreamy romantic shots.
2. Pull your cute coats, scarves, and boots out
While there’s always opportunities to use your everyday winter jacket in your engagement photos (or no coat at all if you’re really brave) we love to use engagement photos as an excuse to dress up a bit!
3. Twinkling holiday lights make for a lovely and romantic background
We think this one speaks for itself, but just in case it doesn’t here’s one of our very favorite “twinkling lights” photos! Taking your engagement photos after the holidays? No problem! We love to use the Chicago sign to create that same *sparkling* effect!
4. Warm up with a hot beverage
Taking engagement photos is hard work! Why not take a little break and warm up with a latte or some hot chocolate? If you aren’t feeling like a hot beverage, might we suggest grabbing something that could warm you from the inside out?
5. Grab a blanket and get cozy
Do you even need an excuse to wrap yourself up in a blanket with your loved one? We think not!
Stay tuned for five of our favorite places to take indoor engagement photos in Chicago!
If you’re looking for a little last minute Thanksgiving tablescape inspiration, then we’re here to deliver! We celebrated early with Clover Events and friends last week to bring you some fun tablescape content. The play on Fall colors and the fun West Elm dinnerware compliments each other perfectly, and don’t even get us started on how much we love the hanging flower chandelier!
We are so thankful for the fabulous vendors we get to collaborate with all year long.
